Here’s is what we are working on for the first week of the 2nd Marking Period:
Kindergarten: The kindergarten students will continue continue working on their watercolor paintings.
1st Grade: These students will continue learning about color and value. Each student will continue to use oil pastels to make a drawing. Each student must mix his / her oil pastels to make at least 3 new colors or values.
2nd Grade: The 2nd graders will continue learning about the artist Keith Haring. Each student will continue creating a Keith haring-inspired drawing.
3rd Grade: The 3rd graders in Room 205 will continue learning about nonobjective art (art that does not try to represent a person, a place, or a thing). This week, each student will continue planning his / her drawing in pencil.
NOTE: Students who are unable to finish their work in school will be allowed to work on them before school or after school. I will be available before school Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:15 – 8:45. I will be available after school from 3:45 – 4:15. I ask that students give one day’s notice if they are coming in before school or after school. I also ask that students get written parental permission (an email or a handwritten note). All drawings are due next Thursday afternoon at 4:15 PM
6th Grade: The 6th graders will continue learning about two-point perspective. I will show the students how to draw objects in two-point perspective. Each student will create a drawing that shows at least 3 different objects in two-point perspective.
7th Grade: The students will review how to mix primary colors to create secondary colors and how to use black and white to change the value of a color. Each student will then create a work of art that uses at least 3 new colors and at least 3 new values. Students in Room 119 will use acrylic paints and students in Room 120 will use oil pastels. This week, each student will begin by planning his / her drawing in pencil.
NOTE: Students who are unable to finish their work in school will be allowed to take them home to complete them. Drawings for students in Room 119 are due Wednesday @ 9:00 AM. Drawings for students in Room 120 are due Friday @ 9:00 AM.
8th Grade: These students will continue learning about Cubism. This week, each student will begin planning his / her final draft in pencil. If time allows, students will also begin using acrylic paints to paint their final drafts.
NOTE: Students in Room 120 who are unable to finish planning their final drafts in school will be allowed to take them home to complete them. This assignment is due Friday @ 9:00 AM.
