My name is Duone Brown. I am the art / Reading Resource teacher at Murray Language Academy. Murray is a public elementary school located in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago. I am proud to say that I have been a teacher for CPS since 1995 and I started working at Murray in 2007. I am also proud to say that I attended CPS schools for elementary school (Parker Community Academy!) and high school (Lindblom Technical High School!). I did my undergraduate studies at Purdue University and The School of the Art Institute and I received a Masters degree from the University of Ilinois at Chicago. Throughout my educational experience, I have been blessed with wonderful, dedicated teachers who made sure I always gave my best effort (whether I wanted to or not). These teachers inspired me and now I get to help others to learn.
When I’m not teaching, I’m usually busy making art. I like doing printmaking and photography. My favorite subjects are usually landscapes (I like inanimate objects because they don’t complain if I don’t get their “good side” ). Some of my favorite artists are Henrî Cartier Bresson, Roy De Carvara, Aaron Siskind, and Franz Kline.
